This morning I shared some info with the church about finding common ground for managing access to long guns in Georgia. I invited them to compare the requirements for obtaining an instructional permit and then the initial restricted license to drive vs. the requirements for obtaining any kind of long gun in Georgia. That’s right–nothing.

And that’s doesn’t include the fact that if you drive, someone has to have insurance related to you or the liability of using their vehicle, because accidents happen. But we require nothing like insurance for using a weapon meant to kill.

We can do better.

We must do better.

The children are counting on us.
I will be talking to my legislators. What are you going to do?
